Generally, common medical insurance policies do not cover the cost of IVF. But there are few health insurance policies that do. Women can avail the general health insurance policy that covers IVF and other assisted reproductive techniques. There are companies which also provide cashless facilities to women in order to cover maternity for up to first two children. The general health insurance covers the few expenses of IVF treatment including the hormone assessment, basic medical test costs, operation theater expenses, and anesthesia charges. Medicines and drugs are not included in medical insurance.
The low cost of IVF treatment in India has made it the most attractive to international patients. Man insurance companies do not include IVF cover in their medical policies, but as the awareness and demand of IVF are increasing, there can be a positive outlook in the future.
